NEED FOR A SECOND TEST

中文

Judges 6:39 NKJV

Then Gideon said to God, “Do not be angry with me, but let me speak just once more: Let me test, I pray, just once more with the fleece;  let it now be dry only on the fleece, but on all the ground let there be dew.

The Midianites (enemy) came to attack the Israelites, and so God instructed Gideon to save Israel from the hands of the Midianites. In Judges 6:16, God also assured Gideon that HE would grant him success in defeating his enemies.

Judges 6:16 NKJV

And the Lord said to him, “Surely I will be with you, and you shall defeat the Midianites as one man.”

Despite being given the assurance, Gideon still needed signs to confirm his faith for the task. He had already had his answer from an earlier test. However, he requested a second test in which he humbly pleaded, "Let me test....just once more with the fleece (wool).

The Bible teaches, "Do not test the Lord", for it is not the right thing to do.

Luke 4:12 NIV

Jesus answered, “It is said: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.

Yet God knows man's frailty (Ps 103:14). At this rate, we have seen how lenient the Lord was with Gideon over his repeated requests for signs. God understands his weaknesses and needs for a sign of his calling, goal, and direction.

Psalm 103:14

For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust.

"See how tender God is of true believers, though they be weak." - Matthew Henry

Thank God for His grace and tender mercies toward us whenever doubts or unbeliefs arise, just like Gideon!

Prayer,

Dear Lord Jesus, whenever we have doubts and unbelief, raise our level of faith to be able to simply trust in Your Word.
