YOUR WORKS BE REVEALED

 YOUR WORKS BE REVEALED

John 9:1-3 (NKJV)

Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth. 2 And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him

Like the disciples, we too surreptitiously wondered if a person’s illness or handicap was the result of his or his ancestors’ sins?

In the above Scriptures, Jesus addresses the disciples’ question by simply saying, “No one sinned. But that God could reveal His works (working, power, glory) in his (blind man) life.”

Jesus refused to discuss with the disciples who, what, or how the causes of the man’s blindness. HE stopped their mind mapping on the theoretical and complex issues. All Jesus wanted to do was to heal the blind man and help him regain his sight.

Indeed, not all sicknesses are the result of one’s sin or of the parents, and are not generational. Though in many instances, sicknesses are associated with sins. For example, anger or anxiety can cause hypertension. Overeating can cause obesity and heart disease.

Ephesians 4:26

Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil.

Proverbs 23:21

For the drunkard and the glutton (overeating) will come to poverty (poor), and drowsiness will clothe a man with rags.

Too often, people become disheartened after praying for a long time, yet healing did not come. Contrarily, God does not work according to our demands and timing. Our prayers appeared to have hit a wall. However, delay does not mean denial.

In waiting, the Bible teaches that there is hope in the Lord in which:

1. One learns to put hope in God. The bible says, “Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit…” – Romans 5:5 (NKJV)

2.  One learns to have perseverance in God. In waiting, one develops perseverance (patience) in God. James 1:3 says, “When our faith is tested, it produces perseverance (patience).”

3.  God’s works (working, power, glory) are revealed through waiting (John 9:3). The blind man waited long to get healed. When he received his sight, God’s works were revealed to many through his healing. The blind man is no longer the same as before. There was a great transformation in his life because he saw God!

        John 9:17

They said to the blind man again, “What do you say about Him because He opened your eyes?” He said, “He is a prophet.”

Even if healing has not yet come, let us not be disheartened but continue to persevere in prayer. By faith, continue to decree and declare for healing. In our waiting, faith, trust, and hope will be magnified through His working in us.

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, we trust that You have heard all our prayers seeking YOUR healing. In waiting, grant us faith, trust, and hope to trust and believe that You will heal us according to Your time, ways, and methods. Help us not to demand that You work healing on us, despite the many prayers that have been offered. In Your own timing and workings, let Your works be revealed through us, which bless us and others. In Jesus’ mighty name, amen!
