IS INSPIRED BY GOD

中文   2 Peter 1:21 For no prophecy ever came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke, being moved by the Holy Spirit .   ********** One day, I saw some beautiful, inexpensive yarn and was tempted to buy and crochet a shoulder shrug. While I was selecting the colours and materials, suddenly the Holy Spirit seemed to suggest to me, "You don't  have time to crochet, don't buy!" Hearing that voice, I considered for a while, but I obeyed and left the store. Indeed, that month itself and for a few months, I was busy with things to do. I was glad I did not store additional yarn and handiwork materials or start something and leave it undone.  Yesterday, after prayer, I told God, "I will clean the bird cage and give my two birdies a bath." Again, I felt a nudge saying, "Do it tomorrow!" While I was sure I heard God speak, I was also unsure after applying my own human understanding and analysis. I wondered if God would bother since it took only two hour...

PRAYERS OF JESUS

中文 Luke 6:12 In these days, he went out to the mountain to pray, and he continued all night in prayer to God . —————— We wonder why Jesus chose to go to the mountain to pray? But something significant is that a mountain is a place of solitude and quietness. It is a place Jesus could spend time talking to God without disturbance or distraction. The Scripture tells us that after he returned from praying, he decided and selected HIS twelve disciples. Jesus prayed before making this important decision.  Also consider praying alone all night at a mountain, which we can never do for whatever reason. But Jesus has certainly demonstrated to us the importance of prayer. At another time, Jesus was seen waking early in the morning and went to a solitary place to pray. This was because he would be going to another town to preach.   Mark1:35, 38   Early in the morning , while it was still dark , he rose up and went out, and departed into a deserted place, and prayed there. ....v...

HUMAN OR ANGEL?

中文 Hebrews 13:1-2 NKJV Let brotherly love continue. Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels.  ______________ There are spiritual angels as well as human angels. However, in this Scripture, a good and kind soul takes after the nature of an angel. When we treat someone, or someone treats us with brotherly or sisterly kindness, the love and kindness shown is like a sweet aroma that ascends to God. [ Ephesians 5:1-2 ] On the other hand, spiritual angels are ministering angels whom God sent to minister to those who inherit salvation [ Hebrews 1:14 ]. If you have already accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, you are not exempt from the help of an angel of God in times of need.  Daniel was thrown into a lion's den. He was not killed because God sent an angel to shut the mouths of the lions. This prevented him from being hurt and devoured. [ Daniel 6:22 ] Two angels were sent to bring Lot (Abraham's nephew) and his family out ...

WANTON SOUP ENCOUNTER

This morning, after dropping off my son at his school, I drove to a nearby coffee shop to buy breakfast.   I came to a stall selling wanton noodles. It was still early, and no one was queuing. The stall looked clean and neat. The hot steam rising from the cooking pot made me decide to order a bowl of wanton noodles.    As usual, I ordered dried wanton noodles. While I observed and was fascinated by how fast the cook prepared the noodles, I thought, “How nice it would be if she could give me some soup!”  As I was just casually thinking, suddenly, the Holy Spirit said, “Ask her!” Hence, I followed as instructed and said, “Can you give me some soup?” The cook did not reply, but another elderly assistant said, “Cannot! We don’t give away soup.” I had been rejected flatly.    Immediately, I spoke to God and said, “ See! You asked me to ask, and she said No!”  I am like many others, already 40 over years of my walk with God, yet I am still learning to...

HOLY SPIRIT, TEACH ME

HOLY SPIRIT, TEACH ME   2 Timothy 3:14-15 (NKJV) But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, 15 and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. Reading God’s Word is like treasure hunting. God’s Word is a precious treasure. When we read His Word, we are hunting for the Truth. Anything other than the Truth, such twisted truth, half-truth, and guileful words must be flung away immediately. Lest our body, soul, and spirit be polluted by them. Quote “All Scripture ought to be read in the spirit in which it was written. We must rather seek for what is profitable in Scripture, than for what ministereth to subtlety in discourse. Therefore, we ought to read books which are devotional and simple, as well as those which are deep and difficult. And let not the weight of the writer be a stumbling-block to thee, whether ...

YOUR WORKS BE REVEALED

YOUR WORKS BE REVEALED   John 9:1-3 (NKJV) Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth. 2 And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” Jesus answered, “ Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him .    Like the disciples, we too surreptitiously wondered if a person’s illness or handicap was the result of his or his ancestors’ sins?   In the above Scriptures, Jesus addresses the disciples’ question by simply saying, “No one sinned. But that God could reveal His works (working, power, glory) in his (blind man) life.”   Jesus refused to discuss with the disciples who, what, or how the causes of the man’s blindness. HE stopped their mind mapping on the theoretical and complex issues. All Jesus wanted to do was to heal the blind man and help him regain his sight.   Indeed, not all sicknesses are the result of one’s sin or of th...
