In Judges 6:16, God also assured Gideon that HE would grant him success in defeating his enemies.  Judges 6:16 NKJV And the Lord said to him, “ Surely I will be with you , and you shall defeat the Midianites as one man.”  Despite being given the assurance, Gideon still needed signs to confirm his faith for the task. He had already had his answer from an earlier test . However, he requested a second test in which he humbly pleaded, "Let me test....just once more with the fleece (wool).  The Bible teaches, "Do not test the Lord", for it is not the right thing to do. One person decides to pray persistently and believes that the medication is helpful. She proactively exercises daily to strengthen her health.
